The paper focuses on evaluation of stray current distribution and rail potential for 'Albate-Chiasso' DC railway line, that connects Italy and Switzerland. A model has been developed to calculate stray current and rail potential taking into account the European Standard, in order to avoid electrolytic corrosion and electrical safety problems. A real case study has been presented and simulated using Simulink software. A measurement campaign has been used to validate the model proposed.

Abstract
